The City of Chesapeake has so many available programs and activities for youth this summer. If you're into sports, dance, chess, or even if you love to write, simply take a look at the list below to see some of the activities that have not filled up yet. Most of the other surrounding city's summer activity calendars have already filled with pre-registration. Luckily, Chesapeake residents still have a plethora of available free activities to choose from. No matter the talent level, our camps are designed for each child to have fun while learning the game through skill development & fundamentals. Your camper will learn basic volleyball skills, footwork, passing & receiving, rules of the game, awareness and overall athletic development through scrimmaging and open play interaction.

Learn how to play Chess! This camp covers the game of chess starting with the basics to setting up the chessboard, how the pieces move and all the rules of chess. Also, we will introduce some concepts like chess openings, tactics, middlegame and endgames.

Introductory camp for those wanting to learn the fundamentals and rules of the game. Learn in a fun and safe environment. Participants will learn to dribble and shoot along with offense and defense drills.
Ages: 6 -12

Location: Great Bridge Community Center

Ballet & Modern - Dance Camp
This camp teaches the fundamentals of Ballet and Modern dance movement. Students learn proper terminology, the five basic positions, along with an introduction to rhythm, tempo and coordination.
Dress:
Girls - leotard, tights covering the toes and leather ballet shoes
Boys - white t-shirt, black jazz pants or athletic pants and black leather ballet shoes.
